Civil Rights Digital Storytelling Assignment

  1. Pick a topic from the list below (or talk to Mrs. Wellborn about a different topic)to research using the CPS databases.

Possible Civil Rights Topics---- March on Washington, March on Selma, lunch counter sit in, bus boycott, Freedom Riders, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Jim Crow, Little Rock Nine.

2. After you have selected your topic, use the CPS databases to find answers to the following questions

Who was involved?

When did this happen?

Why did this happen?

Why is this event or person important?

What was the outcome?

Where did this take place?

How did these events or people shape the country?

3. When you have all your information, write a short (3 paragraph, maximum) narration to use with pictures. You will now produce a digital story of this event/person using iMovie.

4. Select a minimum of five photographs to use with iMovie.

5. Using a digital storytelling map, plan your narration to accompany your pictures.

6. Record your narration.
